Warriors won over Cavs yesterday by 99-92. This was the gift from NBA heads who want to compensate Warriors with this for their unfair judgement over Warriors in the NBA finals in 2016.
But Warriors cannot get 70+ wins in this season (they already lost 6 games but its still not the half of the season) as well as next 10 seasons. This is because NBA's glass ceiling of "no surpass Jordan and Bulls".
As MJ and the 90s Bulls is the icon of NBA, NBA heads has to protect them.
Any player/team could surpass MJ/90s Bulls in individual statistics, but no one is allow to surpass MJ/90s Bulls in every aspect.
However, overstating this would result loss of attraction of NBA nowadays, because if you tell others MJ/90s Bulls cannot be surpassed then it means NBA nowadays is just a second class basketball League, because the first class one died already after the end of Bulls dynasty in 1998.
So after the 2017 NBA Finals, NBA officially and its affiliated commentators compared 2017's 67-15 Warriors (16-1 in playoffs) with 1996's 72-10 Bulls (15-3 in playoffs). And tried to give people illusion that Warriors nowadays is as atrong as Bulls in 1996.
However, is it comparable for the 2017 Warriors with 1996 Bulls? 67-15 is a quite common win loss record, Mavericks, Spurs, Lakers and even 91-92 Bulls and 85-86 Celtics could achieve it.
Yes, those commentators might say but Warriors got only one loss in the whole playoffs and this is better then 96 Bulls, however, 00-01's Lakers got also only one loss in the whole playoffs, why didn't you guys say 01 Lakers was better than 96 Bulls?
Yes, NBA gave you a virtual image of an icon, the god of basketball, and no one could surpass him. That's why kobe could only get five rings not six.
For those Celtics legends of 11 champions, they could be turned down easily with the excuse "the NBA level in 60-70s was still low".
This icon of God of Basketball worthed billions of dollars, and of course they have to protect it.
But on the other hand, NBA heads is digging the grave of NBA, because that implied coincidently that people are watching 2nd class NBA games, so they don't want to directly point out this truth. They used some illusions such as praise the current teams and players with the legends, or exaggerate the huge wins over Bulls by Warriors or Cavs over the weak Bulls nowadays as "warriors and Cavs defeated the Bulls".
Duncan, Kobe, Curry, James, Shaq...Do you want to know why your Champions lose?
